Leak Of The <s>Week</s> <s>Day</s> Year: Jay-Z, ‘Show Me What You Got’

Jay-Z’s unretirement album, Kingdom Come, drops on Nov. 21; the lead-off track, “Show Me What You Got,” starts off with him almost apologizing for coming back before kicking right into a classic Hova boast, one where he seems to be shedding–and mocking–his former player persona. It’s backed by a super-bright blend of cascading piano, a sinuous sax, and a sampled Flavor Flav serving as Jay’s sideman.

Sinuous sax? I bet you used that description about Wreckx ‘n Effect’s Rumpshaker too.

All I wanna do is zoom-a-zoom-zoom-zoom and a boom-boom - JUST SHAKE YA RUMP

Probably would’ve, since I’m thinking it’s the exact same sample.

He’s right to apologize: That “retirement” was at least as lame as anything George Foreman or Sugar Ray Leonard ever attempted. But, you know, “welcome back.”

Jay-Z is the most ambitious man in America today.

I dunno about ambitious, but at an estimated net worth of $360 million he’s got to be doing something right. With a single like this, you know his next record will only shoot those numbers higher.

Hov’s new single is fiya! I know people will hate, but the drums are bananas. With so much of the same old same old out there it was relief for my ears.
