Justin Timberlake’s ‘My Love’: You Probably Have About 20 Seconds To Enjoy This Video

October 12th, 2006 // 9 Comments

Sure, the video for “My Love” isn’t that great–the floating CGI’d violins and rings around Justin Timberlake look like they were plucked from a Gap ad’s reject pile–but we’re posting it as a reminder that time might be running out on your ability to not be completely sick of this admittedly outstanding song. (Okay, the pickup lines that Timberlake and Timbaland are throwing out in the extended intro are pretty funny, too–do men still use “piece of that pie” when referring to chicks in the post-Warrant era? Really?)

I’d like an R&B artist to be a little daring and different for once and NOT include raps at the beginning and the break. New jack swing has gotta be 15 years old by now; let it go.

That intro with Timbaland was awful. The hook is fantastic; why make us wait for it? And all the record company had to do to sell this song is replay Justin’s spotlight dance from the MTV Awards.

  2. Cheap Shot

Weak. that intro owes alot to Twista. unoriginal drivel. It’s sad to think that he’s the new Elvis.

I can actually feel the 20 seconds ticking off… but what a sweet three weeks it was.

I don’t think I would be mad if Timbaland was in every video. Ever.

This song is breaking all kinds of personal records for longevity for me. I still haven’t skipped it on iTunes or any other medium.

The girl dancing with Justin is the poor man’s Mya, complete with moves stolen from “My Love is Like Woa.” That said, I am a sucker for Justin and Timbaland dancing in unison.

Damn you and damn this song. I clicked play, and liked it (first I’d heard it – yes I’m that out of touch). And I thought “Hmm, maybe I should watch MTV Hits and see what else the kids are listening to these days.” Bad idea. I blame Idolator.

Yes, damn you Idolator. I hated this song when you featured it previously. But now it has grown on me.

All though the chorus still sounds like ‘Justify My Love’ to me.
