Brandon Flowers Sees Red Over Green Day

October 13th, 2006 // 15 Comments

72012931.jpgBrandon Flowers told the NME that Green Day’s DVD, Bullet in a Bible, has “lit a fire” in him, and he’s ready to talk some smack about the Bay Area trio’s America-bashing ways:

“I just thought it was really cheap,” he explained. “To go to a place like England or Germany and sing that song – those kids aren’t taking it the same way that he meant it. And he [Billie Joe Armstrong] knew it.”

The Killers’ frontman said he believed that his band’s new album ‘Sam’s Town’ is a much better representation of America.

… because like America, Sam’s Town is overweight, full of itself, and still wilfully misinterpreting Springsteen.

This is like Paris Hilton saying she’s offended by Pink’s “Stupid Girls.” I mean, dude – Q.E.D.

When will the insanity stop? Brandon Flowers is NO Bruce Springsteen. The Boss’s poop writes better songs than Brandon Flowers.

What portion of America is he representing, anyway? Wannabe-indie hipster tards who dress like Sgt. Pepper?

  3. IvyLeagueMetalhead

Riiiight, because proper representations of America *always* feature cheesey facial hair, pensive pre-emptive nostalgia and misappropriated angst (bonus points for homages to hot rods nobody drives anymore).

i’m officially sick of this dude.

Brandon Flowers is NO Rick Springfield. He has a long way to go before we can even start comparing him to The Boss.

  6. ohHELLnaw

Why on earth is he dressed like Sgt. Pepper in that photo?

  7. AcilletaM

How can he play the tuba with that mustache?

  8. SlimShadenfruede

I should’ve put him in a sleeper hold when I saw him at the Virgin Megastore.

    Fuck Green Day!

  10. Miss Tanya

Man am I depressed by what is going on with the Killers. At this rate, I’m not even going to be able to enjoy Hot Fuss anymore. Boo!

  11. Bon Jour, Pee Wee

I think I am with Miss Tanya on this one.

I’m not a big Brandon Flowers fan, but it’s about time someone said it.
