Here’s one thing we weren’t expecting from Gwen Stefani: Her channeling Maria from The Sound Of Music. But “Wind It Up,” the Neptunes-produced first single from Gwen Stefani’s The Sweet Escape, starts off with Gwen singing a bit from “The Lonely Goatherd”–complete with yodeling–before twisting Rogers and Hammerstein’s orchestration for that song into fanfare fit to celebrate Gwen and her clothing line.

Not even for cardio.
…..I could groove to Hellagood, but this…
…..We weren’t allowed to have rock in our house growing up. Our parents had three albums we were allowed to listen to: My Fair Lady, Dr. Zhivago, and… you guessed it, The Sound of Music. I tend to gag when these are mentioned. And they never sound right unless played on an old record player with a dinky 3 inch mono speaker… And still, like a bad auto-pileup, I have to look.
…..Did Gwen’s record Co. send a cease and desist? Ye olde zero-k .mp3 is all that downloaded.
That actually made me cry.
So weak. An obvious attemt at Hollaback 2. As for that ‘wind it up!’ part? GET OFF MIA’s SHIT ladies!
Quick! Fergie! Learn “Do-Re-Mi” - there’s still time!
The sound of me choking to death in a noose has more melody. Jeez.
Oh dear — I shouldn’t like this, but I really do.
The Neptune’s really aren’t trying any more, are they??
Thanks guys, thanks. Jewel yodeling = ingenious, Taylor Ware yodeling = passable, Gwen yodeling = explosive aural diarrhea.
