The Vault: Nirvana Puts On Its Kiss Makeup

htbkiss.jpgWe’re betting that some of our readers are taking this Halloween to unleash their inner members of Kiss and/or Nirvana, so to get you into the mood, here’s Nirvana’s unhinged version of Kiss’ “Do You Love Me?” It comes from the out-of-print 1990 Kiss tribute album Hard to Believe, which made Gene Simmons unhappy thanks to the copyright-infringing artwork at right.

KISS is to metal what K-Fed is to Hip-Hop.

You mean it wasn't bad before the makeup came off?

    Are you sure?

This is a very bad piece of music. it's a cover of a KISS song, but the musicianship and vocals are much much worse than KISS's version.

Oh wait, I get it, it's "ironic." Now it's awesome.

once the makeup came off, things got real bad (Heaven's on Fire, Lick it Up)

I've always hated Kiss. Maybe it's the action figures or the lunchboxes or the underoos or the fact that they are directly responsible for hair metal. That, and Gene Simmons seems like an ass.

thoughts on kiss: ace was an okay guy, gene was a dick to me when i was on a panel at a fangoria 30th anniversary con, and i always thought paul was a little bit fruity.

my new album, R.E.I.G.N. Maker, is out june 31st

Deadspinner looking for refuge after the Cards won and we lost. I feel so much less gay already. I used to play the fuck out of this record when I was a college DJ. God, I am old... and gayer than I was when I started today. Does it help that I am putting on a swan dress and going as Bjork tonight?
