Some people will do anything to make sure they don’t miss any of Thursday’s NFL offerings. Take John Fogerty, who’s actually going to brave Thanksgiving travel and hit two of that day’s three halftime shows:
Rock and Roll Hall of Famer John Fogerty will be flying around the country to make history by performing live during the halftimes of two NFL games. … Fogerty will perform at Ford Field in Detroit during the United Way-themed halftime show of the Miami Dolphins-Lions game on CBS (12:30 p.m. ET) and then fly to Kansas City to perform during halftime of the Denver Broncos-Chiefs game at Arrowhead Stadium on NFL Network (8 p.m. ET).
Detroit to Kansas City? That’s not history, that’s a business trip for a regional sales manager in the Midwest. Somewhere, Phil Collins is calculating the mileage between Philadelphia and London in his head, and preparing a very stern e-mail.

Well, woop dee doo. Is it a slow day at Gawker?
I bet this story wouldn’t even get past the Deadspin comment intern.

Put me in coach, I’m ready to play!
What, did Lee Greenwood die?
If not, what are we doing about it?
how is this “making history?” I guess technically anyone who does anything is “making history,” but didn’t that term used to be reserved for people who did something interesting or important?
also, “United Way-themed halftime show??” Good God. Him and Mellencamp should do some shows together: “We Had Credibility Once Tour ’06.”
