Leak Of The Day: The Ever-Evolving Maturation of Eminem

NotBriansIM (10:50:18 AM): should we put up this new eminem leak?
NotBriansIM (10:50:32 AM): on nah right
NotBriansIM (10:53:21 AM): let me know what you think of it, it’s from the re-up comp
NotMaurasIM (10:53:23 AM): listening to it now
NotMaurasIM (10:54:38 AM): i like the delivery
NotMaurasIM (10:54:48 AM): and the chorus
NotBriansIM (10:55:16 AM): yeah, i guess….it’s just more gunshot noises, “fag” references and quasi-self-loathing
NotMaurasIM (10:55:23 AM): well
NotMaurasIM (10:55:41 AM): he’s sort of run out of subject-matter steam
NotBriansIM (10:55:54 AM): yeah, no definitely
NotBriansIM (10:56:04 AM): he’s been insulated way too long at this point
NotMaurasIM (10:56:08 AM): yeah.
NotMaurasIM (10:56:10 AM): he needs to like
NotMaurasIM (10:56:21 AM): take a trip to antarctica or something
NotMaurasIM (10:56:27 AM): just to get some self-perspective

And, of course, to whup the crap out of that fur seal who once looked at him funny.

The ad screamed strength, power, and democratic ideals. The choice of using Eminem as a spokesperson was genius -- he is a "brand" inexorably connected with Detroit and exudes a gritty, authentic appeal even broader than his MP3 penetration. Plus he's cute.

I like the track but I miss the funny side of Eminem. He’s been pretty miserable for sometime.

The Antarctic adventure quip is not so far off-the-mark…. I was thinking on Eminem when I was watching Babel, but paying more attention to Gustavo Santaolalla’s score. I have a coupla discs produced by GS, mostly Molotov releases, & I got to thinking — Em seemed a li’l tired on Encore, maybe a change of scenery, down by Buenos Aires (Santaolalla’s Argentine, at least), would do well. Change up the instruments behind him, too.
    Could work.

  5. “You can sue me if you want”? Who’d bother with sueing him anymore? Paranoic, much?

And that piano is out of a 5$ mid-nineties stock-sounds compilation.

Eminem’s delivery is still as good as ever, but his lyrical content just hasn’t been the same since the 8 mile soundtrack.

Not entirely on topic, but some of you might be interested in DJ Swindle’s latest project, mashing up Michael Jackson beats with some of Eminem’s old songs —>

  7. Psst – Mr. M&M. It seems every “straight” person I’ve met who fantasizes about fags being obsessed with them turns out to be a big ol’ queer themselves.

It’s a shame. You’re not even hot enough to be rough trade.

Booooooooooooring… And here I was, ready to be all “offended”. I’d couldn’t even be bothered to make it through the whole track…

Is it a crime to laugh? Didn’t this guy used to be entertaining?

I’m reminded of the Onion headline:

“Marilyn Manson now going door to door trying to shock people.”

Granted, Eminem has more legitimate musical chops than MM, but I think people are now responding with a yawn where they used to be outraged.
