Today’s New York Daily News story about the closing of Brooklyn’s famed record store Beat Street–which shut down in, uh, October–prompted us to find a eulogy for the store that didn’t include quotes from a Fannypack member. Luckily, someone had the foresight to film the store’s final days and edit together an eight-minute mini-doc on YouTube. Be warned: If watching footage of people rooting around a near-empty record store gets you a bit sniffly, you may want to skip it.

Funny, but this store got nary a whisper in the Boerum Hill/Downtown Bklyn anti-gentrification groups. I can’t imagine why not…..
