Bought For A Song: The Final Days Of Deals Under Tower Records’ Deathbed

Tower Records’ long death march is entering its last week, but that hasn’t stopped readers from sending their favorite deals–along with price info and MP3s–to tips@idolator.com. We got the following note from a tipster who found more than 20 dollar-or-less CDs–including a relic of our time, a Track Marks alum, and an album in one Idolator’s 2006 top ten–at the Rockville, Md., outpost:

A few of these I bought just because Pitchfork told me to (here’s looking at you Boris, [Serena-Maneesh] and Frog Eyes), but I figured that for one dollar a pop, I could risk buying some pretentious bullshit on the off-chance that it wouldn’t suck. Once I rip these CDs, I’ll know whether I chose wisely. Of course, I’m still kicking myself for not picking up the copy of Jamelia’s album that I saw. At any rate, 23 CDs for $23.60 is the best deal around, so all in all it was 2 hours well spent.

The full list of dollar deals–and a couple of MP3s–after the jump.

a few of those were in the stack i put back down - but if they were at just $1 when i was considering them they probably would have made the cut.

You know, take away my cool card, but the actual Cobra Starship album is really fun.

Tower - Sherman Oaks has been picked pretty clean but they did have LOTS of Hoobastank, Hawthorne Heights & Alien Ant Farm so if you’re a 14 year old girl and it’s 3 years ago , you are in luck …

i was going to pick up the Ordinary Boys but objected on principle to paying $21.99 retail for a cd (even when it’s marked down 80%) … and has anyone looked at the dvd’s left in stock? wow! talk about stiffs, i’d never heard of 99% of the titles …
