Compiling a year-end Top 10 list means making plenty of painful nips, tucks, and tweaks. So, through the end of 2006, we present “Stuck At Eleven,” a daily look at the songs that came thisclose to making our year-end lists’ final cut.
There has been a terrible mistake at the Idolator flophouse: Upon re-listening to “Yours To Keep”–the bubbling collaboration between Swedish pop outfit Teddybears and Neneh Cherry–we realized that this should really have been in our Top 10, and maybe even our Top 5. What the hell were we thinking? How often do you hear a song about “[driving] around with the top down” that actually sounds good while driving around with the top down? This song is perfect. Our life has been one giant mistake.

Just one tangentially related question … which ad agency decided that a phrase like “I’m bored with looking good” (as bellowed by the Iggster) really fits the aesthetic of the Cadillac-buying demographic?
In the current round of underground-music-in-auto-ads, is someone at GM trying to out-hip the Honda Civic / Go! Team spot, or are they merely aiming to be less obscure than the Mitsubishi Highlander one where Mark E. Smith shows up for the last 10 seconds?
