We realize that the compilers of the recent Mass Appeal: Best of Gang Starr compilation had a lot of material to choose from, but how could they have left off 1998′s seemingly-everywhere-at-the-time single “You Know My Steez”? Not only was it one of the group’s biggest ’90s tracks, but it was accompanied by a video that pays extensive homage to George Lucas’ THX 1138, complete with row after row of fake-looking “futuristic” computers.

They were years ahead of Britney but nobody’s giving them proper credit…
Man the “Mass Appeal” comp was a mistake, particularly considering they released the infinitely superior “Full Clip” just a few years back. THAT has TWO versions of “Steez.”
