I feel like the protagonist of Johnny Cash’s song “One Piece at a Time,” who built his car over 20 years by gradually smuggling home parts. I already have four Sky Blue Sky tracks, and at this rate, I’m going to have the whole album by Easter without even torrenting.
I think the Wilco album is brilliant. I vote sleeper. I’ll take this over the Arcade Fire album any day of the week. Fuck, I’ll take that Apostle of Hustle album over the Arcade Fire’s new one. Because I’m a hater like that.
I HATED this record the first time I heard it. I can’t get it out of my head now. Absolutely love it.
It’s funny…same thing was true with a lot of albums I cherish now – Buckley’s “Grace” comes to mind.
