Leak Of The Day, Part II: Linkin Park Is Done

April 2nd, 2007 // 6 Comments

has an MP3 of “What I’ve Done,” the first single from Linkin Park’s forthcoming Minutes to Midnight. We present the song only as a public service, because frankly, it sounds as though all they’ve done is re-record the same overly dramatic anthem for the umpeenth time in a row, only without all those awesome DJ scratches and backing yelps that made them so exciting back in 2000 or so. We get it already! How many more ascending choruses and self-pitying verses are these guys gonna crank out before Jay-Z drops them from his Gmail address list?

Linkin Park – What I’ve Done [MP3, link expired]

I’ve been a huge Linkin Park fan for a long long time but this is truly mediocre and boring.

Chester has to work on emphAAAsizing the right syllAAAAAble in some of these verses…

The only time I have marginally enjoyed Linkin Park was when it was mashed with Jay Z. That’s pretty fucked, I know.

  3. AcidReign

…..I did have the chorus from “Crawlin’” as my AOL instant messenger noise for a while. Great way to get everyone who’s got you on their buddy list to turn the sound off! I ended up changing the sound to a van Halen-style pick-squeal dive-bomb, which is more my speed…

I just tried looking up Moulty on Wikipedia, and I thought it was all a joke at first. Everything on the entry includes the word shit, and Marvin Gaye is referenced as Marvin is Gaye:

A little further investigation and I realized that someone just really has a vendetta against The Barbarians. Although, “Are You a Boy or Are You a Shit?” is a pretty great song title….

You know, usually when I grab tracks from the mp3 blogs, I keep them around even if I only get through 30 seconds of it before getting bored.

I actually actively stopped and deleted this right around the first prechorus.

Linkin Park is the only band of our generation, and I mean ONLY, that deserves the “sold out” moniker.

Linkin Park is the only band of our generation, and I mean ONLY, that deserves the “sold out” moniker.

Typically the term “sold out” refers to someone who once had artistic integrity. I was never a huge fan, but I think Liz Phair is a good, fairly recent example. But saying L.P. sold out is like saying Fred Durst isn’t as smart as he used to be. You can’t lose what you never had.
