The Guitar-String Bracelet: Yes, It’s For “Charity,” But It Also Makes Its Wearer Look Kinda Dumb

April 3rd, 2007 // 3 Comments

greatkat1web.jpgContinuing today’s hidden theme of merchandising music until it bleeds: Relix is now offering bracelets made out of “authentically used” guitar strings, thus opening the secondary snapped-steel market to people who are willing to drop some cash in order to wear an accessory that was actually shredded on by people like The Great Kat. Because nothing says “rock and roll” like a $75 piece of steel that comes with its very own authenticity statement.

(This photo, on the other hand? One thousand percent rock and roll.)

You should probably post some “Beethoven on Speed” up for the kids. To love the Great Kat (who I think is from LI if mammary serves) you really have to hear it. The neo-classical shredder who is genuinely talented but loves to show off her boobs and could probably kill you? Done and Done!

I remember The Great Kat!!! She was an icon at my college radio station. She was always doing interviews with the jocks. She’s wild, and can play like nobody’s business… Check out “Bloody Vivaldi”

Checked out the Relix site; turns out the extensive list of artists participating in this little gimmick includes Death Cab FC and the Shins. I’m trying to picture the respective guitarists from either one plucking a guitar string hard enough to break it. I’m coming up blank.
