(Ed. note: Once again, we present “Indecent Exposure,” a ranking of the artists who are receiving the most dangerously high levels of popular-culture exposure. It’s an anecdotal chart that takes into account such factors as media appearances, blog hype, playing-in-the-background bar music, and overheard subway conversations, and it is 100 percent statistically sound.)

Mr. Cassadaga Casanova himself, BRIGHT EYES, tops this week’s list, thanks to a new album and–more importantly–a newly unwashed coif. He knocks Amy Winehouse down to No. 2, but with her album sitting high on the iTunes charts and several new tattoos planned for Q2, look for her to reclaim the throne soon. A leak of LINKIN PARK’s new single sent the group into the top ten for the first time in years, and more tracks from WILCO’s Sky Blue Sky shot Jeff Tweedy and pals up the charts–but will either outfit remain after their respective fans actually listen to their songs? The biggest “shock” of the week, however, is the absence of Timbaland, who holds steady at No. 11, done in by sentimental fave FRICKOLAS, THE JARRINGLY OVER-PATRIOTIC CAT. Me-ouch!!!

why isn’t arcade fire still on the list? is it because the backlash is already in full swing?
That pic is sorta hot, but also sorta like an ad for “discreet body hair removal” from the back pages of the NYT Times magazine…
Aw, she used to not always look like a trannie. But now…

I loooove that she claims she’s so skinny because she drinks so much she “forgets to eat.” That’s precious.
what about Alanis and her youtubed Fergie cover – I can’t turn a corner or click a link without hearing/seeing that mentioned…
does Human Giant qualify for the chart?
you won’t see that on the list because Idolator likes it… even 24 hours after they posted it they felt the need to post it again! i’m surprised they put Amy on the list seeing as how her label sponsored the site some weeks back. i guess that sponsorship is over now.
@brainchild: There’s no connection between editorial and advertisements, and no favorable treatment given (cases in point: Zune, VW).
I don’t know about your theory, Brainchild. Modest Mouse is pretty high up on the list and Idolator has had a few posts championing the new record.
Thank you for the pre-inked Winehouse. She is darn scary to look at now.
So, is number one supposed to correspond to anything?
@MC: On Wilco’s part?
(Nothing listenable since “Heavy Metal Drummer”. Nothing good since that fake double album.)

@heidiho: Please tell me that someone Photoshopped AMy Winehouse’s head on Nicole Richie’s body.
Please tell me!
