This month’s Artist Of The Month poll on MSN started out as a five-way battle between Avril Lavigne, Patti Smith, Nine Inch Nails, The Bravery, and Pam Tillis; somehow, The Bravery pulled into the top slot. Fishy? Sure. But while we’d be content to just roll our eyes at yet another Internet poll of no consequence, Web-enabled Nine Inch Nails fans are rising up and re-engineering the poll–literally. In response to what they percieved as Geffen’s rigging of the results, the nerd squad over at Digg and some other code geeks have crafted some Reznor-friendly bots who can vote multiple times, making the results somewhat hilarious:
1. Avril Lavigne 1%
2. Nine Inch Nails -6%
3. Pam Tillis 0%
4. The Bravery -14%
5. Patti Smith 0%108385921 responses, not scientifically valid, results updated every minute.
Talk about “not scientifically valid”–do any of you math types out there even know how to calculate negative six percent of 108 million? Also, if Lavigne pulls it out, wouldn’t this be the first time that a plurality in a five-way race can be claimed with 1% of the vote?

Inside Music: Artist Of The Month [MSN]

hehehehe
Funny story. I was backstage a few years back when The Bravery were opening up for Depeche Mode (people who know who I am will know why I was backstage).
I was sitting there, working on my laptop, along with some of the DM crew people. I noticed a few guys hovering around a laptop, a bit confused over something.
I asked if they needed help, and the guys were saying that they were having problems logging onto a message board. I looked, noticed it was The Bravery message board, and so “Oh, you’re trying to get onto The Bravery message board?”
The reply: “We *are* The Bravery.”
Oops. :)
As I walked away, a few of the DM crew failed in holding back their laughter. After I rounded the corner, I fully busted out laughing. I had no idea who the hell they were. :)
ZOMG… YOU’RE BRAT! :o I’m not worthy!
It’s nice to see a great post about Twitter and social networking every now and again. Thanks for an excellent read!
