We’re just a few hours away from learning the results of this week’s Soundscan sales chart, and one thing is pretty obvious: Avril Lavigne’s The Best Damn Thing is going to take the top spot this week, with Nine Inch Nails’ Look What I Found In A Barcelona Bathroom Stall coming in a close No. 2. But how will the numbers shake out?
How Many “Damn” Copies Will Avril Sell?

I’m guessing 225K-250K, just based on the power of the tween audience… most of whom, god help us, were 5 or 6 when her first CD came out.
Can I vote for ‘hopefully none’?
i put a vote in for over 275,000. should have a strong week, and will get a lot of itunes preorders. the album is currently #1 at itunes and a solid #14 at amazon (solid considering npr probably isn’t giving her too much attention).
I got burned last week trying to guess the Bright Eyes number, so I went a little lower this week (200-275K). I agree with coolfer that it stands a chance at surprising on the upside; but first-day estimates have been notoriously misleading in recent months (coughJayZcough); so I’m guessing that the 275K prediction will get shaved slightly to between 250K and 270K when all is said and done.
hits’ tally is 290,000. i assume the more official soundscan number will be right around that.
…..Well, she’s got this damn thing down with selling CDs. Can’t blame her. Or her handlers do… We ain’t constipated!
