In this clip from last night’s episode of The Colbert Report, Jann Wenner shows up to plug the fortieth-anniversary issue of Rolling Stone. Not only does the shaggy Jann-Jann shamelessly play to the boomers with a “Dylan for President” joke, he responds to Stephen Colbert’s query about the state of rock n’ roll by meagerly invoking Prince, John Mayer and Red Hot Chili Peppers. Somewhere, a stung Mark Knopfler is firing off a mean-spirited email.

I’m surprised he invoked RHCP, I didn’t know he liked young bands.

How did “Sweet Home Alabama” or “Free Bird” not make the list? (I assume, as I’ve not actually read the issue.)
I think that was a joke about the Canadian thing because he says Hibbing right afterwards. I actually expected the worst and found him kinda tolerable. Which is not much of a compliment.
@graeffufighting: I mean that was my first cringe. though I agree with Lucas… I expected worse.
I give it 1 1/2 stars…Jann looks surprised to see that his magazine gets put out every month.
