Stuck On Repeat: The Penetrators Got A Brand New Bag

penCD.jpgTwo years ago, Swami Records released Basement Anthology 1976-84, a 19-track compilation by a Syracuse garage-rock outfit named the Penetrators. Just about nobody had ever heard of these guys, and with good reason: As ’70s garage-rock goes, this is pretty run-of-the-mill material. But the band did have at least one fantastic song in “Shopping Bag,” a thwacking sing-along that sounds as though it’s being played by a gang of irritable hornets:
