    I actually like the idea of the Strokes as sub-radar cult band: no hype about how they’re saving rock and roll, and ergo no kneejerk backlash from arm-crossing scenesters who have Brooklyn Vegan as their Firefox start page. First Impressions of Earth was underrated as hell.

    @GovernmentNames: T.I. demands your apology, sir.

    Hmmm… perhaps the Strokes are taking a year off to mastermind a comeback wherein they would reclaim their title of most beloved and influential band in modern rock!

    Or, maybe they’re taking a year off to try every tapas bar on the LES, date more models, and learn to fly cessna airplanes.

    @natepatrin: Word.

    That said…Which year? 1978? — Oh, SNAP!

    Wow! A fourth Strokes record should elicit as least as much excitement as that fourth LP by The Knack did…

    I’d kind of enjoyed living in a world where I’d forgotten the Strokes even existed.

  7. Bob Loblaw

    @natepatrin: Thirded. An alarming number of throwaways, but also a bunch of gems.

    @Jupiter8: Not fan of Serious Fun, I take it? ;)

    @Thierry:
    It’s no “Round Trip”-that was their “Sgt. Pepper”!
