Spice Girls Make An Announcement That They Are Going To Make An Announcement

Fresh off the wire:

The Spice Girls have set a date to announce their “future plans.”

“Following weeks of speculation, the Spice Girls are set to make an official announcement to the world regarding future plans on Thursday, June 28,” said a statement by their management company, 19 Entertainment.

“Details regarding the announcement will be released in the coming days,” said the statement, released Friday.

Future plans? We wonder if those plans will include Emma Bunton changing her spice name from “Baby” to “Still The Youngest, But Over 30 So ‘Baby’ Doesn’t Seem All That Appropriate, Does It.”

if they tour, imagine if what had previously been crowds of screaming teenage girls were now replaced by crowds of hipsters. let’s make it happen.

@ascot-revival: Is there somewhere that we can all camp out to await the announcement?

  3. I want them to reunite and I want them to sing Leader of The Pack.

Hi, I am Heather and yes I own Spice World on DVD.

@Sleepyhead: how about in a gutter near a london ticketmaster location? i’ll bring my union jack-adorned tent

@heathermylove: I own Spice World on dvd too, and I’ve watched it within the last 90 days.

  6. This may be the most pre-hyped reunion announcement since I watched a live webcast of the Filthy Lucre Live press conference on my 56K modem.

@brasstax: Agreed (re: Posh). I find it sad but weirdly appropriate that the one who ended up the most famous was the one with the least talent.

(Yeah, I know, I just talked about the Spice Girls and “talent.” I still own the first CD, so sue me.)

@dennisobell: I still own the first two cds, so you’re in good company. I also have all of Emma Bunton’s solo albums (the last two of which are really really good).

@brasstax: I either downloaded or got on CD Emma’s Free Me - I think I actually paid for it! So I got that goin’ for me. [sheepish]

Confession: she looked really hot on the cover. Baby’s all growd’s up! [more sheepish]

I could argue for hours about why Mel C. is the best singer and the prettiest, but that wouldn’t really be in the spirit of things. But if you think I’m gonna out myself by saying which CD singles off Spice Up Your Life I still own, you are sadly mistaken!

    Baby Spice = Yummy!

That’s the most redundant heading I’ve ever read, not least of all because it begins with the words “Spice Girls”.

“So I’ll tell ya what I want, what I really really want….but not until June 28th.”

I hope they reunite and become wildly famous again, except without Posh.

Thanks to my little sister, I had some serious Spice Girls love going on in the late ’90s. I made no attempt to resist it. I saw Spice World in the theater. Posh was my favorite, but that was before she morphed into the tangerine-hued, flesh-coated borg she is today.
