Petal Pusher, the story of Laurie Lindeen and her life as the frontwoman for Zuzu’s Petals, her battle with multiple sclerosis and her marriage to Paul Westerberg, just sounds like it might be a really satisfying read. [Minnesota Public Radio]

IIRC, she’s the member of Zuzu’s who wrote an utterly fantastic essay for Alt-Rock-a-Rama about the various types of personalities she becomes on the road, sometimes to her total mortification. If so, her book’s guaranteed to be a treat.
Thanks for the tip, Ned. And only a penny!
It’s a good read, that — the various tour horror stories are worth it alone. Superchunk reviews the worst bathrooms around! Country Dick Montana with the best pre-tour inventory ever! Yo La Tengo on their worst ever shows!
A friend reviewed the book on my site and found it a bit uneven, but overall a pretty good read.
Wild, I hadn’t thought about Zuzu’s Petals for a long time. They used to do the Minnesota-Wisconsin-Illinois-Iowa-Missouri-Kansas-Nebraska tour loop relentlessly back in the day. I know I saw them play at least 5 times. Hadn’t heard about Laurie’s MS though — that’s really tough.
I’m reading it at the moment and I’m really enjoying it. So hoped that if you guys got around to mentioning it you’d post something by the band though. No idea how to track their stuff down in Scotland!
