For Just $10,000, You Can Enter A Booming Industry

long_play_record_282276_m.jpgWhere better to look for a buyer willing to pay $10,000 for an independent record label–with national distribution!–than Craigslist, the site where a prospective buyer can also pick up an extra endtable or find the cute St. Vincent fan he met on the subway, then turn them into a blog-house outfit that’ll burn up the elbo.ws charts?

Record Label For Sale (Indie) with National Distribution in place (Midtown) [Craigslist]

    @DHMBIB: Of course, the post got mangled.

    amyway, my larger point was:

    1) GM has 10K to spend;

    2) C. Montgomery Burns has a nuclear plant to sell;

    3) ???

    4) Profit!!!

    Thanks, I'll be here all week...

    Hey, I hear that Gawker Media is willing to pay 10-Large for photoshops...'>by coincidence, Jezebel Records can just close the full circle on this deal.

    Synergy, baby.

    Oh, and Craiglist poster: drop Victory Records' Tony Brummel a line:

    Subject: Acquisitions

    Hello,

    My apologies for the mass e-mail.

    We are looking at purchasing masters, entire catalogs etc.

    If you have any interest in such a discussion please get in touch. Feel free to share this message with anyone that you feel may have interest.

    Kind Regards,

    Tony

    Hey, that's perfect! Because that's a good way to set the tone for your whole experience running the label: start off by losing $10,000 to get started, and then maybe it won't seem so bad as you continue to lose $10,000 more every few months thereafter, until you ultimately decide to re-sell the label yourself later on Craigslist.

    Vice Records is up for sale?!

    I don't get it. What are they selling, exactly, the back catalogue and the contracts? Must be a pretty bangin' label for $10K.*
