We hear that former Extreme guitarist Nuno Bettencourt has left Satellite Party, Perry Farrell’s WTF-list project that went straight from the flash mobosphere to the cutout bins. Related: Today’s news flow has had a rather strong resemblance to my still-in-my-closet collection of videotapes containing old Dial MTV and Headbanger’s Ball episodes. (Anyone know if LA Guns did anything newsworthy in the past 24 hours? Because that would really cap the day.)

Best news I’ve heard all day next to the Dethklok album. Maybe Nuno will join a band where he will actually, y’know, play guitar.
@Vince Neilstein: Yes, absolutely! Nuno was one of the best. His tone and playing on “Pornografitti” wa phenomenal. The tone started going south on “Extreme III”, and by the time “Waiting for the Punchline” came out, Nuno sounded like he was taping himself on a cheap practice amp with a microcassette recorder. Still awesome playing, nearly unlisten-able sound.
I’d have to hear that he was doing something with Marshalls and real mikes, before I’d ever buy an album with him on it again.
Fack. My band is playing on a festival bill with the Perry Project next week and, beside TV on the Radio, I was most looking forward to watching Nuno play. Bastardos!
