From a preview of the first Kid Rock album in four years, due Oct. 9: “‘All Summer Long’ entertainingly mashes up elements of Warren Zevon’s ‘Werewolves of London’ and Lynyrd Skynyrd’s ‘Sweet Home Alabama’ — with the latter group’s Billy Powell on piano.” [Reuters]

I’m guessing that, if Warren wasn’t already dead, this would kill him…
Kid Rock was in town for a show recently. Guy’s a fairly talented, charismatic showman, but his band is too subdued. To me, it doesn’t fit. It’s like he’s scared for anyone else to show any talent up there, and diminish his efforts.
Just so you know, so it’s set down in stone,
Kid Rock don’t come from where I come from:
Yeah, it’s true, he’s a Yank, he ain’t no son of Hank
If you even thought so, god-damn, you’re fucking dumb.
-Hank Williams III, “not everybody likes us”
Fuck you, Kid Rock. Fuck You.
Jason Molina’s Magnolia Electric Co. have already done something
similar. Check out their cover of ‘Werewolves..’ on the Hard to Love a
Man e.p and tell me you dont hear ‘Sweet Home..’

But – WZ wrote an answer song to Sweet Home, ‘All Night Long’, which takes down the Skynyrd boys’ take down of Neil Young even more effectively than Hank’s puncturing of the former Mr. Pam.
