A few weeks ago, we noted that Cheap Trick is performing all of Sgt. Pepper’s with the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra. Well, they will now be joined by Ministry’s Al Jourgensen, at least for “I Want You (She’s So Heavy).” Jourgensen has done a new arrangement for the song, which will presumably sound like a bunch of power tools thrown into a car compactor with live pigs. He’s just an effigy.
Um, not to be too much of a geek, but “I Want You (She’s So Heavy)” is on Abbey Road, not Sgt. Pepper’s. Is Roadrunner just too cool to bother knowing the difference?
@Deadly Tango: Maybe they’re doing the movie version of Sgt. Pepper instead?
@maura: Ouch. I’d honestly blocked the movie out of my mind after a terribly disappointing summer night when I was about 12 watching it on the local UHF station.
Until I saw your comment, I’d never bothered to ask whether the original soundtrack recording use songs that weren’t on the original album. Now that I know the truth, I almost feel compelled to see if I can borrow a copy from my local library the next time I need a little self-flagellation.
@Deadly Tango: Oh no! I didn’t mean to dredge up any bad memories. I have the movie’s version of “I Want You” seared into my brain after a particularly unfortunate hangover bout spent watching it.
