“Guitar Hero IV” May Let Aerosmith Fans Get Their Wings

aerosmith.gifTucked at the bottom in this Billboard item on the new Aerosmith record–the details of which are completely up in the air, save for the fact that it’s eventually going to be recorded–is this curious quote from Joe Perry on the next edition of Guitar Hero, which will apparently be a classic rock block devoted to the Toxic Twins:

Besides the album, Aerosmith is also working closely with the makers of “Guitar Hero IV,” which will be dedicated to the Boston group’s music. “I don’t know much about the technical part of it,” Perry says, “but artistically we’re working hand in hand.”

An all-Aerosmith Guitar Hero could be really great or really terrible–here’s hoping that someone on the “artistic” side will convince the powers that be to include more songs from Rocks, and fewer from Honkin’ On Bobo. (And no ballads, for the love of Tyler.) Seriously, could you imagine how many would-be Perrys would be completely stymied by the opening run of “Lick And A Promise”?

I’m thinking they got it wrong and it’s an expansion pack for GHIII or GHIV (hehe, giv) that’s exclusively Aerosmith or that GHIV will have alot fo songs by Aerosmith but not exclusive to them. Personally, I’d go for an Aerosmith expansion pack but a whole game simply for them is a little bit too much for me.

Yeah, there’s no way they would create a true “sequel” based on one group. Unless of course that group was The Beatles =)

I agree, probably some sort of expansion pack, download, something.

This is genius. Not the Aerosmith in particular, but at the moment I beat GH1, I started hoping there would be band expansion packs. I thought that KISS would be the first to tap this lucrative revenue stream.

We’ve already seen the combination of Aerosmith and video games, and lo, did it suck ass verily.

Playing Revolution X for all eternity is one of the deepest levels of Hell.

don’t forget: from 1973 to 1979, and then again from 1987 to 1989, aerosmith was a damn fine rock and roll band. of course, for just about 15 years now they’ve been turning out pure poo, but for like 7 years out of the 37 they’re been around they were a pretty good time.

This game is going to be the king shit of all games. This game will rock harder then GHIII, until GH10 expansion comes out. Which will also rock harder until part 20 comes out! The Beatles? DOn’t feel like playing the same three notes all night. ACDC, would rock all night long. G&R will be the band sequel to part 17. As lead singer of Aerosmith, I am getting high on this one.
