The tipoff if the amount of makeup she’s wearing + perfect hair and too good looks. Most people don’t go on Youtube looking like that. In fact, most Youtube videos feature some dude who looks like he just rolled out of bed.

I was actually up way too late a few nights ago and saw her perform this on Carson Daly’s show on NBC. At the end of the song, she was all “I can’t believe I’m actually on tv, wow this is amazing.” Somehow now I don’t see her elation as being quite as sincere as I did before.

That's a great piece in the WSJ. It probably killed what little desire I might have had to check her out in the first place. Thanks for alerting me to it.

Apropos of all of that, I had never heard her take on the song until this post alerted me to it. I actually like this acoustic version. But I'm not surprised it went viral -- even with the big assist from Hollywood Records -- as "Umbrella" is a great song. As Mandy Moore said introducing her AC-Lite cover to which you alerted us last month, "You just can't deny how melodic it is."
