Kalakuta Show

Hey everybody! There’s nothing going on! I feel nothing but guilt and disgust over the near-abusive Britney Spears debacle and never want to read another word about her! Here is some pretty great footage of Fela Kuti live in 1971! If Fela had played last night they would have shown about 1:30 of “Zombie” while the guy from Gym Class Heroes rapped old Young MC lyrics over it before cutting away for Suchin Pak interviewing Tony Yayo or something! I hate America!

Back when I was a teenage Beatles fan and listened to any music my idols told me was cool, I remember Paul McCartney telling Billboard back in the ’70s that seeing Fela live in Nigeria was the best live concert he’d ever seen, and so incredible that he broke down and wept when it was over. So of course I had to run out and get one of this guy’s albums. Thanks, Macca, for that I forgive you Press to Play.
