If you happened to miss Boredoms’ 77Boardrum event this past July, well, then I extend my sympathies, because it was one of the best gigs I have ever had the pleasure of being rendered briefly hoarse/deaf by. But! You can see a little bit of what you missed–or relieve the warm and fuzzies if you were there–thanks to internet radio station Viva’s “Definitive Video” of highlights from the world’s first 77-strong punk percusstionist party in way higher fidelity than any of the clips that have shown up on YouTube in the last few months. (And I would post Viva’s handiwork here thanks to the magic of embedded video except for the fact that Viva’s player has the unfortunate habit of playing automatically every time you refresh the page. Which I assume would get quite annoying for you all by about 11 a.m.) The site also includes snaps from the event and a typically gnomic (if also typically entertaining) interview with Boredoms’ ageless sun-worshipping leader Eye.

Maybe I’m stupid, but where is the actual video of the event?
I’ve only seen video interviews with many of the 77 drummers. Little help, please?
Oh please. Complete waste of time. A way for 77 people in bands that no ones cares about to feel self-important. This makes blog headlines but 1,600 guitarists attempting to play “smoke on the water” doesn’t? Music CLASSISM!
@Vince Neilstein: Apples and oranges.
One is a kitschy attempt at a world record. The other is something a bit more interesting.
I’d also wager that it’s tougher to get 77 drummers to play in time than 1,600 guitarists.
@Vince Neilstein: linky
@Charlie Kerfelds Jetsons Tee:
yeah, does anyone know Vice’s plans for a release of their footage?
