The Most Important Question You Will Answer All Week: Should One Of Your Idolators Try Out For VH1′s New Hip-Hop Dating Show?

October 1st, 2007 // 20 Comments

ltrimm.jpgThis is a very simple question. And yet it is far more important than even the price you would pay for a new Radiohead album. VH1 is apparently currently casting for “fun, attractive, successful single men” to TV date (female) “hip-hop legends who will be out for a night on the town and looking for a good time.” And so, whatever my other qualifications, being at least a man (or at least a manchild), I jokingly asked Maura if I should apply. To which she replied: “YES.”

A new VH1 series is looking for fun, attractive, successful single men to introduce to the single ladies in our cast.

These women are hip hop legends who will be out for a night on the town and looking for a good time. We’re just trying to help find a few good single men to introduce them to along the way.

All we need you to do is come to a hot celebrity after party to meet these ladies. The rest is up to chemistry.

We are interested in all kinds of men, they just need to be interested in meeting successful African American females in their 30′s.

If you are interested in being a part of our show, please email us with the following:

-A recent photograph

-Name

-Age

-Occupation

-Telephone Number

-A few sentences about yourself and the kinds of women you are interested in meeting.

Please be available and in the NYC/Tri-state area THIS WEEK.

So should I? Also, who could it possibly be? Maura thinks Salt N Pepa but I’m thinking JJ Fad. (And hoping L’Trimm.)

Casting: Single Men Needed For VH1 Hip-Hop Dating Show [New York Craiglist]

  1. Jay

Can one assume that Queen Latifa has become too movie-star for something like this?

I personally wouldn’t mind dating Monie Love, she always seemned fun.

  2. mike a

Is there any way to confirm it’s not Li’l Kim or Foxy Brown? Dating Li’l Kim seems like no fun at all (especially when people are shooting at you).

  3. dollywould

Oh my god, YES! Do it, Jess!

  4. e

I did hear that Salt n Pepa had a new VH1 reality series coming up . . . but I didn’t know they were looking for love!

  5. allyzay

you have to do this thing. like, you have to do it so much that i will come up to nyc and force you to do it if this becomes a necessary provision.

  6. zaky

Latifa likes the ladies. It won’t happen.

  7. MrStarhead

I’m guessing TLC (well, what’s left of them). Doesn’t Queen Latifah play for the wrong team to do a show like this?

  8. iantenna

    tigra or bunny?

  9. Chris Molanphy

If it’s legends, plural, it’s got to be Salt-n-Pepa. Who, among female rappers, can be considered old-school enough to be “legendary” and appear in group form?

Otherwise, if they’re grouping a bunch of unaffiliated female rappers togehter, L’il Kim is clearly one of them - mama needs brand-new shoes.

    Roxanne Shante!!

  11. dutchtwista

Salt’s happily married & newly Christian, so she’s not a likely candidate. Pep’s a smart bet though, but Christ she looks like a tranny!
Monie Love would be awesome, as would Digable Planets’ Mecca

speaking of Latifah, anyone else notice Page six outing her last week?:

Go for it, MC Lyte wants a ruffneck

  13. Laurrel

I voted ‘yes’ but I’m starting to feel bad about voting ‘yes’ on things that will suck for you guys but will be really entertaining to read.

  14. MTS

@Jay: Monie Love lives in Philadelphia! I can see the angle now: Jess returns to his hometown, where him and Ms. Love share cheesesteaks at Pat’s, then off for a night of dancing at Silk City.

  15. mishaps

The extent to which I think you should do this cannot even be rendered in words. I will have to resort to bird calls, or semaphore.

  16. Hyman Decent

Nothing personal, but since when has writing for a blog qualified someone as successful?

  17. Hyman Decent

@Hyman Decent: D’OH! I forgot that in this context, successful is code for well off if not rich.

  18. CarsmileSteve

who are the six fun-haters who have voted “no”????

(hehe, i guess jess is probably one of them ;))

  19. Dickdogfood

But think of the beautiful babies Jess could have with Roxanne Shante!

  20. Hyman Decent

@Hyman Decent: D’OH! #2: I overlooked the whatever my other qualifications part.
