The Sky Drops Hide Out And Hang On

The Sky Drops are a Delaware duo who I was pleasantly surprised by at a show a few months back–like Monarch, the Drops are a two-person outfit that sounds like a multi-guitar assault when they appear on stage–and their EP Clouds Of People is full of of hazy beauty that brings together the guitar swirl of Raise-era Swervedriver’s and shimmering male-female harmonies. The above video for “Hang On” was shot in a Neutra house in Los Angeles, and its bleached-out modernist look is well-suited to the song’s gloomy, gauzy feel.

I could never imagine liking this band, oh no no no. I hate that shoegaze stuff.

Wow. I think I liked that song but I’m not sure. I don’t know if it was the camera angle or what but I was too busy trying to figure out if that was actually brain I was seeing through the guys nose to really listen. Seriously. Dude has some huge nostrils. Anyway, nice song (maybe).
