Courtney Love sold Universal Pictures the rights to Charles Cross’ Nirvana book Heavier Than Heaven and the Nirvana catalog as a package deal, so expect your favorite track by Kurt Cobain and Co. to be used in a sledgehammer-over-the-head way in the Love-produced Cobain biopic when it hits theaters next year. (Sorry, I’m still reeling from the way Control clumsily used “Love Will Tear Us Apart” to score a marital-spat scene. Oh really? It’ll tear us apart? You don’t say.) [NME]

Like “All Apologies” behind the slowburn pre-suicide climax, when
they should obviously be using “Pennyroyal Tea?” (Though, to be fair,
maybe it would be even more sledgehammerous to use it when Courtney
reads his suicide note to the memorial crowds. Decisions!)
I can imagine “I Hate Myself and I Want to Die” playing during Kurt and Courtney’s honeymoon scene.
this whole thing makes my stomach churn. that movie had better be awfully goddamned good.
Word on the numbingly obvious use of “Love Will…” in Control. And “Atmosphere” after Curtis’s death. OTOH, I loved the sly suggestion of the inspiration for “She’s Lost Control.”
As for Nirvana: “All Apologies” in the trailer — bet on it.
“Bizarre Love Triangle” would have been so much more … prescient. I can’t wait for the grainy footage of tow-headed Kurt dressing up in mom’s clothes to the strains of “Been a Son.”
I hope the biopic ends up with Zac Efron playing Kurt and Ashley Tisdale playing Courtney.
But what song will play as Kurt watches his little brother drown in a bucket?
