Dreaming A Little Dream Of Dream

It’s really quiet today. We actually thought the RSS feed reader had broken, but it turns out the Internet has just stopped, the blogosphere equivalent of a “Gone Fishin’” sign or something. So since nobody’s looking, and following on from today’s earlier 1999 TRL-fodder flashback, here’s one of my other plasticy, syncopated faves from the same era, by Diddy-svengalied girl group foursome Dream. (Even the sassy curlicues on the logo say “turn of the millennium Trapper Keeper.”) Actually, watching this I’m now wondering if today’s late ’90s/early ’00s teenpop nostalgia jag was really just inspired by seeing that Old Navy ad for their new shiny silver pants about a dozen times last night.

Dream home: Drawn to water, couple finds dream home on pier in Baltimore

After reading about that Lou Perlman guy I felt so vindicated knowing that all of this stuff was spearheaded by a thieving pederast.

17 year old me knew something was fucking amiss.

Props for posting about this Dream and not that annoying “Shawty Is A Ten” guy. I miss the days when every other R&B video took place in some kind of spaceship.

First “Genie in a Bottle” and now this? Somebody’s in a David Frank mood today.

I’ve always been a little creeped out by girl groups singing about one dude. Like yeah, sometimes there’s an obvious lead singer and the others are all “go ahead girl” and stuff. But other times, like this (or with my childhood faves, Bananarama), it’s less clear and it starts to feel like they’re ALL dating that one dude. Kinky!

  8. hot shit!!

Maura–I think the catchier Dream song was “This is Me”, which I had on a random mix cd somewhere. It’s perfect sugar pop goodness.

    And here it is. :)

@hortense: And um, dammit. I meant Jess, not Maura.

This is so weird. I was trying to remember the name of this band a couple of days ago after I read something about Eden’s Crush. That’s a load off of my mind. Thanks, Idolator, you’re the best!!

    C-c-c-c-cherry Bomb!

This video reminds me of the day I picked up a Play album and was at once bemused and dismayed at the whole teeny-bop scene.

Thank heaven I was an Aphex Twin fan.
