A Videodrone Public Service Announcement With Superchunk

Do you know what we haven’t done much of lately? Just posted a video of a song that we happen to love. You know, just for the hell of it. Even in these waning days of 2007, it can’t be all year-end lists and shitty album covers! So here are a bunch of Superchunk videos. Mostly because a.) Superchunk always improves my seasonally affected bad mood, but also because b.) YouTube didn’t have any Lync clips. Lync! Christ, next I’m gonna be digging up old live footage of Christie Front Drive.

That’s “Driveway To Driveway” above.

radical! i have their dvd from a few years ago, and i’ve probably watched it more times than any given piece of cinema that i own. in large part because of the mood-lifting qualities that you have described.

FUTUREHORSE, i see your silver scooter et al. and raise you a chisel and a rondelles!

  5. thearcanemodel  |   Posted on Dec 17th, 2007

    just kidding, MTS totes wins.

  6. SuperUnison  |   Posted on Dec 17th, 2007

Last I checked, Christie Front Drive’s reunion show is up on youtube, partitioned song by song.

“Foolish” has been one of the best old albums I’ve gotten into this year, so that makes me happy.

Finally, my estimation of you has jumped 40% with that Lync namecheck.

  7. SuperUnison  |   Posted on Dec 17th, 2007

@MTS: Texas Is The Reason FTW?
I could piss away a whole novel waxing nostalgiac about how that band saved my life.

  8. Maura Johnston  |   Posted on Dec 17th, 2007

@SuperUnison: this is the perfect time of year for that lync album, innit? so awesome.

  9. futurehorse  |   Posted on Dec 17th, 2007

@SuperUnison: I just yesterday listened to that TITR 7″, the, you know, “So know it’s your turn to tell me that I’m wrong” one. God, it doesn’t get much better than that. @maura: YES YES YES! I think I read somewhere that Greg Dulli started throwing in a Lync cover in some of his Twilight Singers shows…

Everytime I watch a Superchunk video, someone else from hawthorne heights dies (hopefully)

  11. TRUST ME, I COULD GO ON FOR DAYS LISTING TONS OF CHAPEL HILL INDIE ROCK BANDS TIME HAS FORGOTTEN…

    ERECTUS MONOTONE FTW

  14. Jess Harvell  |   Posted on Dec 17th, 2007

i think it might finally be time for the “12 days of 90s emo”

  15. @willhack15: You are correct, bro. But I mentally categorize them with the CH scene.

  16. righteousmaelstrom  |   Posted on Dec 18th, 2007

Wow. I had never seen that That “Driveway to Driveway” video before. It’s weird considering pretty much all of the songs on “Foolish” are about Mac and Laura’s breakup.

  17. Cam/ron  |   Posted on Dec 17th, 2007

I also miss the 90’s, back when indie rock truly meant something.

  18. The “Crowding Up Your Visual Field” DVD is worth picking up — it has all the videos (including “Untied,” which MTV refused to air), bonus footage, the most depressing tour documentary you will ever see, and a great interview about the history of the band.

  19. Halfwit  |   Posted on Dec 17th, 2007

And now I feel all young and callow…

  20. righteousmaelstrom  |   Posted on Dec 18th, 2007

@MTS: Thanks! Just put it in my netflix queue. Hopefully, the tour doc isn’t as depressing as LoudQUIETLoud with Black Francis’ predilection for walking around without a shirt on.

  21. Al Shipley  |   Posted on Dec 17th, 2007

Fucking awesome, man, I love Superchunk. Also, props for not posting the video starring noted indie rock comedian David Cross. Why am I getting a buch of “We’re sorry, this video is no longer available” screens, though? Is Merge policing YouTube?

  22. SuperUnison  |   Posted on Dec 17th, 2007

@maura: Yeah, it’s jumping to the ipod as soon as I get home. I think it works really well for LA, since there are, in fact, no fall colors here. Damn, I want to be listening to “Cue Cards” and smoking like I wish it was a crime right now!
