Live Nation Gets Ready To Learn All It Can About Its Consumers

idolatortick.jpgIn the wake of a just-announced partnership with German ticketing company CTS Eventim, Live Nation is claiming that it will have its own ticketing system in place by Jan. 1, 2009. And here’s the creepy part: “Live Nation notes that the new ticketing platform will allow it to control customer data to create ‘enhanced ticket-based concert products,’ and capitalize on expanded distribution channels and sponsorship opportunities.” “Enhanced ticket-based concert products”? Idea: Try putting out chocolate replicas of your tickets bar code printouts before you start weird, semi-appropriate marketing initiatives. Because confusing people by sending them into a sugar coma is not only yummy, it wears down their defenses!

I don’t even know what a “ticket-based concert product” is, much less how such a thing could be “enhanced”. Maybe by putting 20″ spinners on it??
