“Satellite Party”, because sometime during the Final Four, I became convinced that Farrell’s wife used a Topsy Tail on her pigtails. We all expect musical necrophilia from the man, but I draw the line at homages to cosmetic infomercial culture of yore.

I hate Nugent’s politics, personality, and most of his music (OK, Stranglehold is kinda fun), and this cover makes me wanna puke. Whereas Perry and his album art are just annoying. Congratulations Nuge, you’re the suckiest dude of 2007!

I was kind of pulling for Helalyn Flowers too, the scrappy little underdog that came from nowhere. Oh well, Final Four is nothing to be ashamed of. Now… someone out there has gone and listened to that Helalyn nonsense, right? Just out of intellectual curiosity? Out of a desire to see if fire is really hot and knives are actually sharp? Report back, please, for those of us too cowardly to venture there.

The thing is that the Satellite Party one is bad, but you know that at least 100, maybe 1000 albums came out this year that are bad for the exact same reasons and in the exact same way. Bad trippy album covers have existed for as long as LSD has been convincing inept people that they have “design sense.” However, Nugent’s cover is just transcendantly bad. It’s worse than the original cover of “Smell The Glove.” It’s a Wonder Showzen joke rendered in real life. It is the key to healing a wounded nation’s heart.
