The lead singer of Lifehouse wrote a jingle for Allstate, and thanks to the song being available on iTunes, the track cracked the Billboard Hot 100′s top 40. I’m guessing that the success was based on a) the soft market for sales in general and b) the song being featured prominently on TV, since the ad itself doesn’t really inspire the warm fuzzies: “The commercial features a long line of cars filled with teenagers driving over a horizon. The voice-over says, ‘Every year, nearly 6,000 teenagers go out for a drive and never come back. Just talking to them can change that.’” [NYT]
