This Reuters article wonders what can/should be done to change the sucky nature of digital download extras (like album art) as a way of luring hesitant CD buyers and/or illegal downloaders to said (legal) digital formats. But while the CD partisans might be waiting for the MP3-era double-gatefold and anal OiNK fans and other bitrate obsessives surely appreciated the carefully scanned and uploaded booklets purportedly included with album downloads, it’s hard to believe a behind-the-scenes video interview or access to Soulja Boy’s liner note shout-outs is really going to curtail bazillions of kids from snagging “Crank That” off their P2P of choice, any more than they would get them to legally download his album.
