From the “we know they’re not that famous, but c’mon” files: Gus Wenner (the product one of Jann’s unholy unions) and Jack Byrne (spawn of Ellen Barkin and Gabriel Byrne) “celebrated over the holidays by playing a show at the Cutting Room with their band, Josef K.” On other hand, if it’s a cover band, well, these little rich boys may be alright. (Ed. note: Well, they do covers, but their taste seems to be more similar to Gus’ dad’s.) [NY Post; HT: Eddy Safarian]

@NickEddy: First hit in google, band site - second hit, wikipedia(band).
The band’s sites been googlable for over a year.
More to the point, how many times have they been told that there’s a band called Josef K, its not like Nirvana where the other band were the other band had been long forgotten.
But they’re MySpace friends with Phil Lesh AND Tila Tequila!?!? That top 8 SCREAMS credibility.
It’s nearly impossible to comprehend the sheer heat coming off the fact that the son of a publisher of a rock publisher could not get called out for having a band called Josef K, in full teen-ignorance of the real Postcard-era Josef K.
Where was Fricke, when this name was vetted? Had he finally irrevocably turned into the mashup of Joey Ramone and Todd Rundgren that fate always threatened?
Was he checking out Ben Fong-Torres’s daughter’s Fang tribute “Fong”?
Still, cheers to Gus and gang, happy cocktails with Matt Nye and Yoko, etc. Maybe you can open for Spalding Gray’s kid. ECK cetera.
son of a rock publisher, not grandson, as hastily scrawled.
Also, nice “World Won’t Listen” look, second-from- right-kid.
They’re crazy to exist. *rimshot* And for my next bit…
i misread and thought that you said ‘the product of jann’s unholy onions’. which, though nonsensical, is my new favorite euphemism.
