Taylor Hicks MADE season 5 not only a memorable show, but an interesting one. America couldn’t WAIT to see his next “3 minute live show”. Not only did more people vote for him than the president, their tour sold out all over. That was the 1st one I’d been to, & I went to see him again, on his own tour. Just because he is a mature man & not a teen doesn’t rate his abilities to perform. They release his CD to mature audience, & we know teens buy more CD’s than adults. They just did the marketing wrong! I bet out of all the AI, THAT season will always be their best!

That's just not true. Bush received 62 million votes in 2004, and there were 63 million votes cast in the American Idol finale. I'm guessing McPhee got more than a million of those votes, and besides, most of them are duplicates because of people like me running war-dialers.

Thank you for noticing that AI purposefully omitted Taylor in the opening credits and in every camera angle. Taylor’s season was superb and he was part of the reason. AI’s behavior is unprofessional and dishonorable. A good reason to stop watching.

AI was at its strongest Season 5 -the year Taylor won. I believe Taylor drove those ratings. For AI to ignore him as though he never won is disgraceful.

Also, Maura, did you catch that Allentown Alexis said there was a song about her town that she believed was written by Jon Bon Jovi? I know how much you hate writing about a certain fellow Hicksville High alum, but I figured you’d make note of that — and the fact that neither the judges nor the producers pointed out the error.

The whole show kind of bored me until the end, where Princess Leia’s rant about how They Want Beautiful People, They All Look The Same, All Made Up and Pretty was backed up by images of people exactly like that exiting the room with their yellow papers… AI’s way of saying “She’s Right… she’s right…”

Absolutely horrifying and brilliant, and it reminded me of why I love this show.

Surely, reality star wannabes have figured out by now what AI producers are looking for.
