Lupe Fiasco “Quits Music” For Even Less Profitable Field

lupe.jpgSomething tells me Lupe will rethink proposed exit from the music industry after his next album will take about as well as Jay-Z’s, but I do understand, because like every good rock critic/blogger/guy working third shift at 7-Eleven, the rapper knows he’s really got the next great American novel in him, with a concept that should have agents kicking and pushing each other out of the way to snatch it up.

“I have one more album in me and then I’m out. I’ve been doing this music hustle for eights years and have more things I still want to do. “There are other ways besides putting out an album that allow me to channel my creative energy and I’m writing a book about a window washer. I will have more than enough to keep me busy.”

Aw, a window washer? And we were totally hoping for a whole book from the perspective of a hamburger. Maybe he’s saving that gem for his first film.

Good for Lupe for finding as many outlets as possible for his creativity. He shouldn’t stop MCing, because he’s damned good at it, but shoot, if he wants to write a book he should write it. If he wants to paint he should paint. Dude has talent and if people aren’t recognizing it through one medium he’s smart to attempt to reach folks through others.
