Chinese Democracy: The Present You Didn’t Even Know You Were Getting?

71764101.jpgDid you know that deranged perfectionist/cheeky rascal Axl Rose apparently had the “finished” Chinese Democracy in the can before any of us managed to trim the tree or light a single menorah candle? Yes, the mixed and completed and ready to ship CD is no longer a rumor according to no less an authority than Classic Rock Magazine. Thanks to a vague on-the-record quote or two they managed to squeeze out of Axl’s manager, “it’s a fact!”

Classic Rock recently tracked down Beta Lebeis, personal manager of Axl Rose, who confirmed to us that Guns N’ Roses’ Chinese Democracy album “was finished before Christmas”.

She added: “Everybody knows that.”

Lebeis said Axl is currently “in negotiations”.

Lebeis, who is more often referred to in the media as Axl’s personal assistant/den mother than GNR’s (or Axl’s) “manager” per se, was mum on details of said negotiations, and at the risk of sounding skeptical of Rose’s ability to close any sort of deal, we’ll go out on a limb and assume that the album (or its gift card equivalent) won’t be in anyone’s stocking next year, either.

Not only that, but Mom says I’m getting the record from my Dad who’s going to leave his other family and come back to us.

These six leaked tracks I gave everyone as stocking stuffers must have been real then!

I’ll believe it when I see it. We also remain skeptical about Axl’s ability to surrender the goods. Until then, there’s always wishful thinking:

Axl better hurry on up before he looks even more like Toby Keith than he already does.

Yikes. Are they distant cousins or something?

This album will rock. But, it might not sell.

The part of me that loves GNR and would love to hear new material is conflicted with the part of me that loves GNR and is pretty sure it’ll suck heavily. Fortunately, the album will never ever never be released, thus putting to rest any internal conflict.

Axl managed to miss the greatest boom in music sales in history (1998-2000) and will drop his 15-years-in-the-making opus just in time for the album as we know it not to exist anymore.

    Nice.

And by “everybody” she meant those three Axls in the “Don’t Cry” video…

How can anybody call this “Guns and Roses” with a straight face?

This record is guaranteed suckage. I’m gonna wait until it hits Pirate Bay and then not download it.
