   It’s not the audio revelation the blog hype made it out to be, but it’s enjoyable.

   Black Kids, however, still awful.

   You guys like it because it’s really bad ska mixed with Paul Simon.

   In addition: best example of why modern mastering techniques are so bad since that PB&J record.

   So you take everything that makes Wes Anderson insufferable, then you add it to Talking Heads and “Graceland” by Paul Simon. Still with me? Good.

   Now, remove ALL of the actual funk and most of the wit from the Talking Heads part of the mixture.

   Cool, now let’s bleach out the soul, lyrical brilliance, and melodic chops we had from “Graceland” and start blogging about it.

   there. Good to see you sticking to your guns, long after most people
   have abandoned the backlash in favor of, you know, enjoying what is
   nakedly enjoyable.

   (Also: no melodic chops? Have you listened to it more than twice? It’s almost overripe with melody.)

   The album really isn’t so bad if you ignore the implications that come with listening to music made by a bunch of douchebags from Columbia.

    @Bob Loblaw: SuperUnison’s got a point. I think the album’s catchy, but it’s funk music for people who are afraid to get, you know, FUNKY.

    There’s a lot of that out there. Doesn’t mean we should support it.

    @slowburn: What kind of funk do you guys
    listen to? These are ska / Paul Simon-influenced pop songs. Talking
    Heads don’t even enter the equation, nor does actual, down-and-dirty
    funk. To knock them for not being funky is like knocking Skinny Puppy
    for not being chart-worthy.

    I’m glad I’m not the only sorta blogrock hater that has found a place in his heart for this Vampire Weekend record. And I can’t even really tell you why I like it, I just do.
