ArcadeFire3.jpgIf you haven’t already tired of The Arcade Fire and their shameless mariachi antics, they’ve launched a Web site that just might put you over the edge! Rorrimkcalb.com offers a grainy, sepia, oh-so-artsy accompaniment to “Black Mirror” that gives viewers the option of eliminating tracks, the idea presumably being that fans can participate in the profound artistic process that yielded the murky, boring song. Really it’s just kind of pretentious and not particularly interesting after you’ve fiddled around with it for about thirty seconds. [Rorrimkcalb.com]

I don’t know. I really like the effort, though it is my least favorite song from the album. I think it’s nifty, actually, much like the pretty amazing (but, yeah, kinda artsy fartsy) Neon Bible video.

Am I the only one who likes that goddamned song? I concede the album as a whole was kinda weak, but Black Mirror was one of the standouts for me. Oh well, I should probably just throw in the towel and pretend I never liked this band in the first place.

You’re all just a bunch of mainstream posers.

I like the song (and the little flash thingy!). But I’m a shameless fanboy who makes no pretensions to objectivity.

Mostly I like that I now have an acapella and a drum track that I can muck about with on my own.

I guess I’m a little late to the party, but we’re supposed to be hating the arcade fire now? Like, “unnecessarily tear apart a minor news story about them” level of hate? I didn’t catch that memo.

re: “i didn’t catch the memo”

    its ona need-to-know basis

re: “fans can participate in the profound artistic process that yielded the murky, boring song”

@Iamthegamer: I’m betting on a Soulja Boy style flip-flop in the run up to the third AF album. Just as soon as the lead off single is released/leaked: A cover of Yahh.

I can’t wait to hear Regine + an Eastern European choir do the YJFLRGLBLE bit.

I KIND OF LIKE ARCADE FIRE TOO.

And with this post, Idolator tried to snark their way into relevance by “anti”-talking that which makes music interesting today.

    Hack job, anyone?

Oh hush. It was a slow news day and I was trying to help out. Jesus. Sorry my position on the Arcade Fire isn’t registering precisely where it ought to on the hype/backlash scale. I was being honest about how I felt while noodling around on the site. It was boring and pretentious, much like the song itself.

I fight back only because I’ve had a few too many Mahous.
