Either way, TNT and whoever’s responsible for promoting Amerie’s Because I Love It in the U.S. are making me wonder if the album–or at least a song or two from it–might get at least a weak, half-hearted push in the States. And it’s only been 14-and-change months after the singer dropped her first mixtape associated with it! Above, an ad for the cable channel’s coverage of the NBA All-Star Game that uses the motivational anthem “Gotta Work” as its backing music–whether or not this is a sign of an actual promotional push for Amerie, or just an ad director with really good taste, or just a blatant attempt to get music-blog coverage for basketball’s crowning event is unclear, but hearing this song is never a bad thing. Wikipedia still says Spring ’08, just like it says for Lil Mama. I really thought it was going to come out after the Chingy appearance…. And according to Amazon, a new international edition of it came out last week. Also, it’s #36 on their imports chart, which seems pretty impressive considering how long ago it came out. I mean, not as long ago as the Sound of Music soundtrack at #28, but still.
I can’t understand how anyone could possibly hear a song this exuberant and catchy and not love it.
