Perhaps the awfulness I am seeing in this cover is a product of said cover’s context. To wit: he cover that this is an obvious homage to, that of White Lion’s debut album Pride:

Look at that lion! It’s so cute. Sensitive, even, from the look on its face. And now it’s all … mean and dead and apparently cloned? Well, at least we’ll always have “Wait”:
White Lion Really Wants To Be Your Friend [MetalSucks]

Say what you want, but White Lion has a killer cover of “Radar Love.”
There’s going to a Pride parade here soon. I guess it’s to celebrate this record or something? I’ve never been to one before, but I’m really stoked to meet all kinds of other rawkin White Lion fans like myself.
@Camp Tiger Claw: I always get Great White and White Lion mixed up…until I remember the fire incident. I feel like my grandmother getting Star Wars and Star Trek confused.
@Camp Tiger Claw:
“I neva ad the chance to lav ye-ou!”
This record is 21 years old?!?! I propose an anniversary tour celebrating their 21st with artists who have classic metal pop “21 year old” albums - Def Leppard’s Hysteria, White Lion, and Whitesnake.
Can you imagine the merch? I’d buy a T shirt and a program.
As for the cover, well its a bit unfortunate…kinda reminds me of what the skull of a Predator would look like.

@Camp Tiger Claw: Funny story related to that which I meant to say in my first comment. My friend and his then wife were in Seattle and had gone to see Hedwig And The Angry Inch. He was wearing a Red Sox hat and saw a hairy burly dude also in a Red Sox hat and asked him if he had checked out any games this year. I guess in some circles in the gay community the B on a Red Sox hat, stands for Bears (as in big, hairy gay dudes) and not the Red Sox. Well, after his conversation, he found out about the alternative meaning of the B and realized the guy probably thought he was hitting on him. True story.
@NDFSEA:
I think Whitesnake, Great White and White Lion actually played
a show in LA (Forum?) back in ‘89 or so. They all have new records coming out now so maybe that’ll happen. Rocklahoma maybe.
I imagine Vito Bratta is still not in the band? Great guitarist but about a year or two ago he begged a co-worker of mine for money on 36th and 8th. Said he was in a big band called White Lion and sold all his publishing so now he’s broke. A few weeks later he went on Eddie Trunk so we had pictures to confirm with said co-worker this was the guy who asked him for money. He gave Vito five bucks!
This is the saddest news I’ve heard all week. What, Mike Tramp thinks we bought White Lion’s first two albums because of his whiney voice?
The guitar playing on the new White Lion myspace page is so generic that it might as well be step-edited midi guitar samples.
Truly awful, if Vito’s fate is as described above. He WAS White Lion.
That is the most ridiculous thing I have ever read. Hello I’m Jaycee. I run Vito’s Website and Myspace page. Lets address this. One Vito is the sole owner of all White Lion albums and songs from that time frame. Mike sold all his rights in 1996 when he went bankrupt.That can be verified look up Michael Trampenau under us bankruptcy. Vito now owns the rights to all four albums.
Vito is no where’s near broke. Anyone close to or in the Biz with Vito to include Mike will tell you he was a money hoarder. Very tight and always investing all his cash. He did not spend it. Vito did not party drink smoke weed or do drugs. He was in it for all the cash he could make and that’s what he got the cash and is still maken plenty of cash from the catalog.
Even when Mike tours with the new Wl he has to pay Vito for the use of any song played from the four albums.
Vito still lives at home in the same house he grew up in just as he did when he was in White lion. He is a collector of Lamborghini Countachs. Just bought a new Red Lamborghini Countach couple months ago. Geez there are pics of him and the car all over the net. And he was just at the Eddie Trunk 25th year on the radio thing this past weekend. Again pics all over the net.
I wonder sometime why people like to beat down on people they know nothing about. I live two streets up from Vito. See him quite often. Plain and simple why does he not want to play anymore. Doesn’t want the headache and he said he don’t need the money. When the cash offered hits the right amount he will play again.
