Though some may not necessarily appreciate being hectored in German for six minutes by Willem Defoe hiding under Bono’s mid-’80s shag ‘do, this sparsely funky live performance of “Yu-Gung” by mechanical men Einsturzende Neubauten does make me hope that the next step in dance-rock retro involves indie kids getting on the good foot by hammering away at bed frames and sheet metal.
