Cassie’s Gonna Learn How To Fly (High)

The clip for Cassie’s “Is It You?” quotes liberally from Step Up 2: The Streets, which features the singer playing one of the many aspiring stars enrolled in the Maryland School of the Arts. “Is It You?” is a pulsing not-quite-ballad that gives the singer’s robotic on-record persona a bit more body (I suspect it’ll sound even better in the context of an early evening out), but Cassie’s performance in the clip has made me sure of one thing: If her Step Up 2 character plays an actress, the movie’s versimilitude will take a big, big hit. I think the Step Up franchise threw versimilitude out the window when the first movie implied that Hampden is on the harbor.

@GovernmentNames: You’ve been missed, sir. And there’s an imposter around these parts who’s taken your name!

@slowburn: I might’ve been posting slightly less than usual lately (been busy actually working), but I haven’t gone anywhere. Ever since my mix for the poll was posted a couple weeks ago, my comments show up as “GovernmentNames” when I post from some computers and show up as “Al Shipley” from others, but if you look they’re all coming from the same profile.

Not to mention there is no “Maryland School for the Arts” but that’s probably beside the point…

@GovernmentNames: That makes more sense. “Al Shipley” sounded a lot like you but I was still skeptical.

I’ll refrain from comment on Cassie.

@beta.rogan: Yeah, but that’s a pretty minor bending of the truth, since they filmed it on location at the Baltimore School for the Arts. Tupac went there! I work around the corner from there now!
