1991917_large.jpgDid you know that ABC News is soundtracking the ads for its Super Tuesday coverage–which is being co-sponsored with Facebook, in case you want to get even more despondent about the world–with that Matchbox Twenty song about how far we, as a country, have come? That sound you hear is Billy Joel kicking himself for not dropping “We Didn’t Start The Fire ‘08″ in time for all this sweet, sweet cross-promotional action. [YouTube]

Billy Joel should learn from Chubby Checkers. Motherfucker's been milking that twist for decades.

Nothing says Election 2008 like "I believe the world is burning to the ground/Oh well, I guess we're gonna find out" and "I believe it's all coming to an end/Oh well, I guess we're gonna pretend."

I used to have this lady roommate who had a picture of Matchbox 20 on her wall. I asked her once to take it down because I felt it was ruining things between us, and she said "But look at Rob Thomas in those leather pants! He is hot!"

It was then and there that I knew things would never work out. We eventually got her to move out and she took her poster with her.

Does she now see these commercials and get all hot and bothered? I can only hope so, as that would mean one more person cares about politics. Thank you Rob Thomas and those other white guys in your band.
